The iconic British confectioner and biscuit manufacturer, Elizabeth Shaw, has been steadily building their export presence throughout 2020
Tell us about Elizabeth Shaw....
Established in 1881, Elizabeth Shaw are one of the UK’s leading premium Boxed Confectionery and Biscuit manufacturers. We are probably best known for our iconic Dark Mint Crisp, which remains a firm family favourite at Christmas, however in recent years we have expanded our Confectionery range and have also successfully launched into Premium Boxed Biscuits. We also produce Famous Names Liqueurs which are the No 1 branded liqueur in the UK market. We currently export to the US, Ireland, Scandinavia and the Middle East
Where have you seen export growth in recent months?
Despite a number of countries being in lockdown for certain periods of 2020, we commenced trading with Cost Plus World Market in the US, our first trading step in this market for a number of years. We have continued to build our business in the UAE with new listings in the likes of Carrefour, Spinneys and Choithrams. Through our FDEA membership and subsequent link up with Santander, we will also be featured in selected Al Maya stores in Dubai throughout November and December as part of their ‘British Promotion Week’.
Which products are doing particularly well and why?
We have seen strong sales across all of our products – Crisp, Flutes, Biscuits and Liqueurs. A lot of Export markets see British brands as high quality and there is demand from their consumers for something different.
What are the company’s export ambitions for the future?
We have had some promising discussions with customers in Japan & Russia, and hope to build our business in the US, Canada and Australia
Sounds like the team at Elizabeth Shaw have been busy growing export markets around the world. We love seeing these British goodies overseas!
