MEET THE BUYER - Online Retail - china

We have a fantastic opportunity for UK food and drink companies looking to sell to China via a growing ecommerce route to market.  This opportunity is for companies in the following product sectors (ideally with a 12 month self life) interested in exporting to China:

  • Alcohol
  • Ambient products
  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Organic

The new, smart way for food brands to win market share in Mainland China.

In 2019 shoppers in Mainland China spent more than £1Trillion on products not available in-country. These products were purchased online and delivered from the brand's country of origin directly to the shopper's home address in Mainland China.

This form of cross border e-commerce has proved successful with many UK brands as there is no need to follow complex trade import customs procedures, place large volumes of stock or setup any operations in Mainland China.

Working with our Associate partner, China Britain Business Council (CBBC), we have organised 2 Meet the Buyer and China clinic days (London and Leeds) with Byron Constable from Avenue51, Millennium Group and Antoaneta Becker from CBBC.

Avenue51 - Award winning cross border e-commerce solutions - making it simple for hundreds of reputable brands (inc Waitrose, Premier Foods) to sell products to more than 100 of the leading online Chinese retailers including Tmall, Netease Kaola, collectively reaching +600 million Shoppers.  Byron Constable is the CMO at Avenue51.

Millennium Group - the leading UK export wholesaler of Food & Drink to China and recent winner of the Food & Drink Federation, Exporter of the Year.  An official contract supplier to leading Chinese platforms such as TMall and JD.com, specialising in the sale of alcoholic and soft drinks to the on and off trade, with routes to market in all Tier 1 & 2 cities, including leading retailers Fresh Hippo and G-Super.  Shipping over 1000 containers of Beer, Wine & Spirits to China each year, they are currently sourcing new brands within the Beer, Cider, Whisky and Gin categories for launch on TMall Global flagship, Bottle Club store to emulate the success of our award winning The Bottle Club online drinks delivery business.  This route to market will offer a soft-launch route to market with the opportunity to gain full domestic distribution.
