China - Mandatory registration and printed labels for health foods from 1 January 2022

On 13 April, 2021, the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC) issued "Administrative Measures on Import and Export Food Safety" which will come into force since 1 January, 2022.

FDEA Member CIRS Group has provided the following summary:

  • From the 1st of Jan 2022, all Overseas Food Manufacturers are required to register under GACC No.248 Order "Administrative Provisions on Registration of Overseas Manufacturers of Imported Foods". This is mandatory for all food products entering or selling in China Market.

  • From the 1st of Jan 2022, Chinese labels for imported health foods and special dietary foods must be printed on the smallest sales package.

  • Five functional ingredients including Coenzyme Q10, Melatonin, Fish oil, Broken Ganoderma lucidum spore powder and Spirulina can be used in health food filing products, and gelatin candy and powder have been the available dosage forms of health food filing
